SOLAQUA x RENEE BARGH

THIS WEEK, WE'RE REFLECTING ON WHAT MOTHERHOOD MEANSTO OUR COMMUNITY AS WE LEAD INTO MOTHER'S DAY.

T.V PERSONALITY AND NEW MOTHER RENEE BARGH OPENS UP ABOUT HER POSTPARTUM EXPERIENCE AND THE MOST MEANINGFUL ADVISE SHE'S RECEIVED..

Who are you a Mother to?
Tide Thomas Lange

How did you see yourself as a woman before Motherhood and how has this changed today?
The funny thing is I’ve always felt like a mother. In my heart and at my core I always wanted to be a mum & knew it was my purpose, So I guess my point is so far I don’t feel that different as a woman. I will say I feel fulfilled & in my truth more than ever.

How has Motherhood changed how you approach personal style?
Well since being postpartum it’s been all about comfort and ease for me. I have very little time for myself or to think about what I’m going to wear so I would say I definitely care less. Currently, it’s important that what I wear is breastfeeding-friendly and loose but still makes me feel good & like myself.

What are some things you have let go of since becoming a Mother?
Expectations of myself and what I hope to achieve in a day. Particularity productivity. People pleasing - feeling ok to say no and put my child first and set boundaries. But most importantly - self-judgement, particularly on my body. After being pregnant & giving birth I’m so blown away by what Women's bodies go through and what they’re capable of- I feel zero pressure to ‘ bounce back’ or look a certain way. I honour my body in a way I never did.

What is the most meaningful Motherhood advice you have received?
Trust your instincts- you know your baby- you’re the best parent for them. Also, it’s ok to cry, it’s ok to take a shower or make tea and step away if you need. Fill your cup when you can.

What advice on personal style will you pass down to your children?
Dress for yourself and nobody else. Wear what makes you feel good on the inside and it will show on the outside.
